Resources by LRW Municipality
The Lower Raritan Watershed includes parts of four New Jersey counties including Middlesex, Union, Somerset and Monmouth, and parts of 51 municipalities. For each of the LRW municipalities we are working to provide stream maps and relevant environmentally-related information to help citizens, schools and community groups plan recreation and stewardship activities in our watershed.
The LRWP is pleased to host Municipal Stream Maps & Municipal Streams and River Uses Maps and other open space/waterfront/floodplain related municipal reports and plans on our site. Maps were developed by Middlesex County Improvement Authority (MCIA) with the assistance of the Middlesex County Planning Office.
Municipal Stream Maps
These maps identify the locations of named and unnamed streams in a municipality, and are designed for general education for audiences including community recreational and environmental programs, summer camps, senior citizen programs and civic organizations, the upper-grades of elementary schools, and attendees of Earth Day and Water Day celebrations, riverfront festivals and similar events.
Municipal Streams and River Uses Maps
These maps identify impairment for municipal streams using New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection water data from 2010. They can serve to guide water quality monitoring, stream clean up and restoration activities undertaken by school groups, Environmental Commissions and Health Commissions, municipal green teams and sustainability advisory groups, water-based recreation organizations and businesses, and local policy and planning officials and service staff.
