April 30 – Assessing Landscape Impacts on the Raritan River

April 30 @ 8:00 am 12:00 pm

This special half day training is an opportunity to learn about land use choices and their impacts on Raritan River water quality and water quantity. By the end of the day participants will be able to use words like runoff, riparian, and restoration like a pro! We will learn to identify common aquatic vegetation and types of algae, classify habitat types at the water’s edge, discuss types of water conditions (and causes) commonly observed during monitoring, and more!

Bring clothing and footwear suited for seasonal outdoor exploration. We will start with a presentation in the EARTH Center classrooms, then “get our feet wet” exploring Mill Pond and the Lawrence Brook.

With special thanks to NJDEP Watershed Ambassador Stephen Greenwood for leading this training!
