October 25 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
With thanks to the Arts Institute of Middlesex County (AIMC) and the Board of County Commissioners, the LRWP is hosting a series of Walks & Talks over the next few months, highlighting the “disappeared” hydrologic heritage of five diverse central New Jersey communities in the Lower Raritan Watershed.
Please join us Saturday morning October 25, 10am-Noon pm for our first hidden streams tour – a “walk in the watershed” in Perth Amboy with LRWP Board Member and Rutgers Professor David Tulloch. This will be a chance to see a series of challenges that this historic urban landscape poses for the watershed. And, we will see the mouth of the Raritan River!
The walk will start at the beach in Sadowski Parkway Waterfront Park at MAdison Avenue and Sadowski Parkway (Parking available on the street). We will look at urban open space, a massive source of stormwater runoff, a major contaminated site, the only combined sewer overflows in the Lower Raritan watershed and an impressively historic walkable community.
