With appreciation to the Middlesex County Utilities Authority (MCUA), the LRWP is invited to a tour of the MCUA Wastewater Treatment Plant in Sayreville on Friday, October 17, 1-3pm. The tour is designed to support public understanding of how Middlesex County deals with waste in its wastewater division. Wastewater treatment is a process that removes and eliminates contaminants from wastewater and converts it into an effluent that can be returned to the water cycle through a primary outfall in the Raritan River. The MCUA facility in Sayreville treats the flow of sanitary sewage wastewater from over 900,000 Middlesex, Somerset, and Union County residents. Space is limited, pre-registration required.
