This FREE eight-week woodworking class for women ages 15+ will take place on Saturdays 9-11am at the Community Boat House at 101 Raritan Avenue in Highland Park, running from September 2 to October 29. Participants will learn several aspects of woodworking, including: preparing and laminating wood for construction; transferring the pattern and cutting the shape; shaping the shaft, grip and blade; sanding; wood burning; and applying the finish. At the end of the session, participants will have a paddle to take home! Please know: the paddles will also be on display at a local Public Library for the months of November and December as part of information sharing about the Raritan River, water quality, and Raritan River recreation.
The instructor for this session is Amber Hennes. Amber gained skills in woodworking through her work in theater design and scenic fabrication across the US.
Please do not sign up if you cannot commit to attending all class sessions. Registration is limited to eight (8) participants. First come, first served!
