March 24 Public Meeting: NJ State Development/Redevelopment Plan

March 24 @ 6:00 pm 8:00 pm

The New Jersey State Development and Redevelopment Plan (SDRP), or State Plan, is in the process of being updated. The update is overseen by the Office of Planning Advocacy (OPA) staff and the State Planning Commission (SPC). The SPC approved the Preliminary State Development and Redevelopment Plan, or Preliminary State Plan, on December 4 and was released on December 6.

The release of the Preliminary State Plan marks the beginning of the Cross-Acceptance process. Cross-Acceptance is a process of comparing statewide planning policies at government levels to attain a high level of consistency among municipal, county, regional, and State plans and the State Plan. Through this process, stakeholders can partner to create a more meaningful and viable State Plan to ensure municipal, county, and regional master plans are taken into consideration during the process.

The NJ State Planning Commission is hosting public meetings in all counties between February 12 and April 16. The purpose of these public meetings is to educate the public on how the Cross-acceptance process will work and to give members of the public; state, local, and county officials; and all other interested parties an opportunity to learn about, comment on, and discuss the proposed changes to the Draft Preliminary State Development and Redevelopment Plan.

The public meeting for Middlesex County will be on Monday March 24, 6-8pm in Middlesex County Administration Bldg. County Commissioners Meeting Room 75 Bayard Street, 1st Floor New Brunswick, NJ 08901
