March 12 – Visual Habitat Assessments for Pathogens Monitors

March 12 @ 8:00 am 12:00 pm

This special half day training is an opportunity for pathogens monitoring program volunteers to learn about land use and stream characteristics and their impacts on water quality and water quantity in the Lower Raritan Watershed. We will learn to identify common aquatic vegetation and types of algae, classify habitat types at the water’s edge, discuss types of water conditions (and their causes) commonly observed during monitoring, and more!

Bring clothing and footwear suited for seasonal outdoor exploration. We will start with a presentation in the EARTH Center classrooms, then “get our feet wet” exploring Mill Pond and the Lawrence Brook.

With special thanks to NJDEP Watershed Ambassador Stephen Greenwood for leading this training!
