Walk in the Watershed with LRWP Board President Dr. David Tulloch

April 26 @ 3:00 pm 5:00 pm

With thanks for grant support from the Arts Institute of Middlesex County (AIMC) and the Board of County Commissioners, the LRWP is studying hydrologic heritage of five diverse central New Jersey communities in the Lower Raritan Watershed.

On Sunday April 26, Join Board President Dr. David Tulloch for another walk in the watershed as we explore watershed issues in Monroe and Jamesburg. The walk (primarily on paved surfaces) will start in Thompson Park, a Middlesex County park, where we can explore some shoreline, runoff and erosion issues. We will walk around Lake Manalapan and visit the structure where Manalapan Brook flows out of the lake. We will then walk into Jamesburg and talk about the practical policy differences for the stream and water. Topics for the walk include

  • Historic changes and hidden streams
  • Runoff and erosion issues
  • Municipal and county parks as open space
  • Municipal boundaries and home rule (donuts and munchkins)

The walk will begin at the first Thompson Park parking lot at the Western corner of the the lake, near the baseball field and tennis court. 40.345285, -74.436084
