SUMMARY:Free Raritan boat trip on the RV Rutgers!
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join the LRWP and friends for a trip on the Raritan aboard the Rutgers Research Vessel (RV Rutgers)! The trip will be Friday\, September 9 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.. This is a rare opportunity to see the Raritan from the water! \n\n\n\nThe Rutgers RV is an 18-passenger speedboat that can navigate the lower Raritan River and estuary. The RV Rutgers is operated by the Department of Coastal and Marine Sciences. See here for more information on the ship . \n\n\n\nOn this tour we’ll identify our pathogen monitoring locations\, highlight important landmarks\, and break out binoculars for bird watching. We will likely have the opportunity to see eagles\, ospreys\, cormorants\, kingfishers\, herons\, egrets and more. \n\n\n\nThis tour is organized by the Lower Raritan Watershed Partnership (LRWP) and Middlesex County Rutgers Cooperative Extension. \n\n\n\nWe have a limited number of seats\, this is a first-come\, first-served trip! \n\n\n\nOur trip will depart from Morgan Marina in Sayreville: 8000 Gondek Dr\, Parlin\, NJ 08859

DESCRIPTION:Our Sept 24 boat trip on the R/V Rutgers is canceled due to mechanical difficulties. With apologies from our Captain\, who writes: “Yesterday the R/V Rutgers lost propulsion on its port motor. Some preliminary checks have indicated that it is not an easy repair. I am working diligently to get this fixed\, but pandemic-related supply chain issues are not making it any easier…We’re currently unable to locate a lower unit in the United States. The nature of your planned trip and time constraints would not allow for operation on one engine.” \nWe are hopeful we will be able to reschedule this fall.
