Please plan to join us for our second “Walk in the Watershed” of 2023 with Rutgers Professor David Tulloch. Our winter walk with Dr. Tulloch will explore different sources of runoff into the Macs Brook. Wedged between highways, parking lots and commercial developments, the relatively inaccessible Macs Brook connects this massively built landscape (wedged alongside the Bridgewater Mall) with the waters of the Raritan River. We are going to look at the Macs Brook, storm sewers and the impervious surfaces that drain into the brook. We also hope to see some large retention and detention structures.
The walk will require walking some distances, but all of it on hard surfaces. In fact, we will try to stick to sidewalks and avoid asphalt as much as we possibly can.
