Please join the LRWP’s Professor David Tulloch for this special “Walk in the Watershed” at Finderne Swamp, jointly hosted by LRWP, the Somerset County Historical Society and the Van Veghten House. We will meet at the Van Veghten House, tour the facility there and then go out to the floodplain.
The Van Veghten House sits on a bluff above the Raritan flood plain near Manville looking out over hiking trails on the Army Corp of Engineers’ Finderne Wetlands Mitigation Project. Flood water management is a hot topic at this site, and the Van Veghten House is currently in negotiations with the State regarding mitigation efforts. Join us for a chance to see in-person how the Raritan and its drainage issues impact so many communities. Pre-registration required.
